TagDango is a Shopify app for safely bulk-editing product tags. This policy explains what data we touch, why, and what we do (and don't) do with it.
The short version: we access your store's product data only to power the tag-editing features you ask for. We never sell your data, we don't run ads or analytics, and we set no tracking cookies. That's the whole deal.
1. Who we are
TagDango is operated by Luke Michael, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("TagDango", "we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
If you have any questions, or want to exercise your data rights, email us at hello@lukemichael.co.uk.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to:
- Our marketing website at tagdango.com; and
- The TagDango app when you install and use it inside your Shopify admin.
3. Information we collect
Our website
You can browse tagdango.com without giving us anything. We do not run analytics, advertising trackers, or third-party pixels, and we set no cookies of our own.
- Hosting logs. Our website host (Static.app) may automatically record standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running. We don't use this to identify or profile you.
- Fonts. The site loads web fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.gstatic.com). When your browser requests a font, Google may receive your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy.
The TagDango app
When you install TagDango, Shopify grants us access, through Shopify's official API, to the store data we need to do our one job — editing product tags. Depending on the features you use, this includes:
- Store details — your shop domain, plan, and basic configuration needed to run the app.
- Product data — product titles, IDs, images and, of course, tags. This is what we read and update when you make changes.
- The changes you make — we keep a record of the tag edits you run so features like undo, saved "recipes" and scheduled changes can work.
- Merchant contact details — your name and email, as provided by Shopify, so we can support you.
We do not access your customers' personal data, orders, or payment information — none of that is needed to edit tags, so we don't ask for it.
4. How we use your information
- To provide, operate and maintain the app and its features (including undo, recipes and scheduling);
- To respond to your support requests;
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse;
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising or profiling.
5. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
We rely on the following legal bases to process personal data:
- Performance of a contract — to deliver the app you've installed and asked to use;
- Legitimate interests — to secure our service, prevent misuse, and provide support, balanced against your rights;
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.
6. Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers ("sub-processors") that help us run TagDango, and only as far as needed:
- Shopify — the platform your store and the app run on.
- Static.app — hosts our marketing website.
- Google Fonts — delivers the website's fonts.
- Our app hosting provider — runs the app's backend that talks to Shopify. [Provider to be confirmed — e.g. Vercel / Fly.io.]
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your store data only while the app is installed. If you uninstall TagDango, we delete or anonymise the data associated with your store within 30 days, except where we're legally required to keep it for longer.
We also honour Shopify's mandatory data-request and data-erasure webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) within the timeframes Shopify requires.
8. Cookies
Our marketing website sets no cookies and uses no tracking technologies. Inside the app, we may use a strictly-necessary session cookie so the app can function within your Shopify admin — this is not used for tracking or advertising. Shopify itself may set cookies as part of its platform; those are covered by Shopify's Privacy Policy.
9. International transfers
Some of our providers (such as Shopify and Google) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, appropriate safeguards — such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent — are relied upon to protect your data.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@lukemichael.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data — though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
11. Children
TagDango is a business tool for Shopify merchants and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting merchants will be communicated where reasonable.
