TagDango is a Shopify app for safely bulk-editing product tags. This policy explains what data we touch, why, and what we do (and don't) do with it.

The short version: we access your store's product data only to power the tag-editing features you ask for. We also use Google Analytics on our marketing website to understand how people use it. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

1. Who we are

TagDango is operated by Luke Michael, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("TagDango", "we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

If you have any questions, or want to exercise your data rights, email us at hello@lukemichael.co.uk.

2. What this policy covers

This policy applies to:

3. Information we collect

Our website

You can browse tagdango.com without directly giving us your name or contact details. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the website. Google Analytics may collect information automatically, including pages viewed, links clicked, session information, approximate location, browser and device information, and a client identifier stored in a first-party cookie. Google uses IP addresses to derive approximate location; for UK users, Google says it discards the IP address before logging the data.

The TagDango app

When you install TagDango, Shopify grants us access, through Shopify's official API, to the store data we need to do our one job — editing product tags. Depending on the features you use, this includes:

We do not access your customers' personal data, orders, or payment information — none of that is needed to edit tags, so we don't ask for it.

4. How we use your information

We never sell your data or use it for advertising. Website usage information is used only for audience measurement and improving our website and service.

5. Legal bases (UK GDPR)

We rely on the following legal bases to process personal data:

6. Who we share it with

We don't sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers ("sub-processors") that help us run TagDango, and only as far as needed:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your store data only while the app is installed. If you uninstall TagDango, we delete or anonymise the data associated with your store within 30 days, except where we're legally required to keep it for longer.

Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings configured for our Analytics property. We review the information we hold and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed for the purposes described above. The Analytics cookies used on your device have the lifetimes described in section 8.

We also honour Shopify's mandatory data-request and data-erasure webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) within the timeframes Shopify requires.

8. Cookies

Our marketing website uses Google Analytics cookies. These include _ga, which distinguishes visitors, and a property-specific _ga_<container-id> cookie, which maintains session information. Google states that these cookies expire after two years by default, although browser restrictions or our configuration may shorten that period.

Analytics cookies are not strictly necessary for the website to work. We ask for your permission before loading Google Analytics. You can accept, reject or change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings button at the bottom of the website. You can also block or delete cookies using your browser settings, or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Rejecting analytics cookies will not stop you from using the website.

We save your analytics choice in your browser's local storage so we can respect it on later visits. This preference is strictly necessary and remains there until you clear your site data or change your choice.

Inside the app, we may use a strictly-necessary session cookie so the app can function within your Shopify admin — this is not used for tracking or advertising. Shopify itself may set cookies as part of its platform; those are covered by Shopify's Privacy Policy.

9. International transfers

Some of our providers (such as Shopify and Google) may process data outside the UK. Where they do, appropriate safeguards — such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent — are relied upon to protect your data.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing that took place beforehand. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@lukemichael.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data — though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.

11. Children

TagDango is a business tool for Shopify merchants and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting merchants will be communicated where reasonable.
